Dr. Whitney Whitfield is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. After graduating with her bachelor of science, Dr. Whitfield went on to complete medical school at the Florida State University College of Medicine. During this time she received both merit-based and research scholarships. She was privileged to work closely with many local physicians in Tallahassee and the surroundings areas. She received her ophthalmology training at the University of South Florida Eye Institute where she was exposed to a vast array of ophthalmic pathology, trauma and surgeries. Throughout her training, Dr. Whitfield conducted clinic and basic science research in both neuro-ophthalmology and glaucoma. Her work has been accepted to many national conferences and published in several prestigious journals in the fields of cornea, orbit, neuro-ophthalmology and glaucoma.
Dr. Whitfield enjoys the screening and medical management of a number of ocular issues, including: diabetes, macular degeneration, cataracts, dry eyes, glaucoma, pterygiums, periocular lesions and neuro-ophthalmic disease. Dr. Whitfield was born and raised in Tallahassee and is privileged to now be serving patients within her hometown.
